Small business interview+giveaway! {Brandon, MS photographer}

Today I’m so excited to be doing an interview with Brittany Manning, co-owner of Libby’s Loft in Madison, MS! Libby’s Loft is a yarn lover’s paradise, full of handmade items suited just for the needs of your little one!! I have quite a few things from Libby’s Loft that you’ve seen in a few previous photos of Kaelyn such as this BEAUTIFUL red flower headband,

this brown one, (LOVE)

and this ADORABLE hat made of the softest yarn I’ve ever felt. (seriously y’all, it’s soft!!)

The quality is nothing less than exceptional, and the customer service is great. They are such sweet people. Anyway, enough gabbing, on with the interview!

——

When did Libby’s Loft ย begin? Cissi and I started around February 2011.

What inspired you both to start this business? My daughter and her grand baby, Elizabeth (Libby)! It all started by making tutus. I didn’t want to spend $30 on something I could make myself. So I decided to make them and sell them at a more resonable price! ย Children are truly inspirational.

How long have you and Cissi been knitting? My mother in law, Cissi, has been knitting for many years. She learned from her mother who was also a wonderful seamstress! Cissi has been teaching me how to crochet, as well. So far I can only make a beanie, but I hope to improve over the years. I have the best teacher!

What products do you offer? We offer baby gifts and photography props. They range from tutus to beanies of any kind. We also make flower headbands, diaper cakes, and crochet blankets. We are trying to work on the items we have available, but it will expand over time.

What’s your favorite product to make? Diaper cakes! They are so much fun to make! There are so many different ways to decorate diaper cakes so it is never the same thing over and over again. I also love all the yarn. Even though I do not do all the crocheting, I shop for the yarn. I’m like a kid at the candy store!

What’s the best part about your business? Working with my mother in law. She inspires me along with my daughter. I also love the idea of making things for children/babies. I just can’t express the joy & pride we feel when we see pictures of babies in our items!

What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone else starting their small business journey? Take it slow, but dream big! It may not take off right away, but it takes time to build up a business. Mistakes occur, but you deal with them and move forward. I’ve always worked for someone else, and the idea of working for myself is wonderful. Libby’s Loft has pushed me to one day be an entrepreneur.

Sounds pretty wonderful, eh? And GUESS what? You can win an ADORABLE owl beanie like this one ย in your choice of colors!
