Reflection..on 2012.

Whew..What a whirlwind 2012 has been. I honestly cannot believe it’s nearly over. I know I say this all too much, but I seriously have the best clients ever! I get the most sweet, genuine, and beautiful people to photograph!

After the loss of my little boy in June of 2011, I thought I’d never go back to photography.. how could I photograph people and their complete families when mine will never be whole again until Heaven? My husband heard me out, my guilt for spending time building my business that I felt I could have spent with Ayden. And he reminded me that I was also a stay at home mom and I did focus more on them then the business, and that it was ok to have something I loved to do, something for me as well. And then he said.. “but what if you didn’t have all of those memories, all of those photos?”

Those words are what kept me going, and I’m so glad I did.

In 2012 I came into a complete groove with my editing style and workflow. Before this I had tried out many different things, but really finding that style that defines what you’re looking for is so awesome.

My first session of 2012 was with a family friend of ours who sacrifices so much for our country.. It was a blessing to my heart to start 2012 off with this family before he went off to serve.

2012 is the first year I’ve done mini sessions with live animals in them! The Easter mini sessions were definitely a hit! The kids loved the bunny & chicks.

I had a few more spring sessions that went really well! Beautiful people everywhere!

I had my first {define you.} lifestyle session with Sherry. SO much fun!

My baby girl turned ONE in April!! Oh how I love her.. <3

I finished up the year with my very first baby planner, Miss Olivia! I have been SO blessed to get to know her and her sweet family! I just love when clients turn into friends. And they even came back for my mini-sessions in Jackson! What a precious family!

I took the summer off to enjoy my kids and to move into our new house! But my big guy turned 7 in June.. so of course I needed a mini session with him! 🙂

My first session after summer was over was this beautiful maternity session!! It was the most fun maternity session I’ve done to date!

And of course, an amazing newborn session followed. Miss Adler was such an easy baby!

I had another maternity session in August, and this was exciting because it was my first session shot in the French quarter in New Orleans! The colors were beautiful and the day was perfect for it!

And here she is! Miss Whitley was an easy baby as well! So so sweet!

Fall/winter came and went SOOOO fast because I was so busy! A good busy though! I met so many awesome families and just had an amazing time photographing them.

Miss Sarah Kate was such a sweet newborn to photograph! And so special as she was a preemie and was about a month old at her newborn session!

I even had a maternity in the midst of the family sessions! They are friends of mine and it was so fun!

But it was even more fun meeting Miss Zoe! By far the most relaxed & easy baby I’ve ever photographed!! 🙂

I also kept on with the view+order consults in 2012, and I just love those. I think the clients do as well being that they get the whole experience of personally touching the photos and having samples and wall displays to guide them as for what they might want on their walls.

In September I did something I’ve been aspiring to do for awhile now, and that is to mentor another photographer! It has been an amazing journey so far, and I’m launching the 1on1 mentorship program in a few weeks!

It has seriously been an honor to photograph all of YOU {clients turned friends!}. And for all of you who support, encourage, and read along. Thank you! I couldn’t do this without Jesus, my family & friends, and all of you!  I am so so so excited to see what 2013 brings.
