A town that came together.. as a family’s heart was ripped apart. {Erin Phillips Photography, Slidell LA photographer}

A few weeks ago, right before Christmas, our little town was hit with the news that we had lost one of our own, a marine in Afghanistan fighting for our country and our freedoms, Sgt. Michael Guillory.

Sometimes the only thing you can do for someone else is be there. Sometimes that’s worth more than any words you could say..

I know on this day, while we paid our respects to this brave marine and his family, there were NO words.

She sure does brighten up a cloudy day, huh? 😉

I was proud of our city that day.. though I found it sad that the streets are more packed during Mardi Gras then they were to honor this amazing Marine. Yet still, there were so many that came out to pay their respects, and be so grateful to him and his family.

Freedom isn’t free. Ever. So grateful to live in the US!
